"Google lives out loud." That's what Google's CIO Douglas Merrill says in the March Fast Company feature story on the Faces and Voices of Google by Chuck Salter.
"We argue about strategy and whether our products are good or bad, whether we're building the right stuff. We argue about everything. But you want conflict to thrive in a supportive way. At heart, I'm an introvert, but I've learned to enjoy the give and take of ideas here. We work hard to protect people who argue."
The article is a wonderful look inside Google, and every interview offers another insight. In a company that views information as a natural resource, it's not too surprising to learn about the Google renewable energy project or Google.org with its $2 billion in unrestricted funds. How great to work in a place that celebrates "creative fearlessnes."
